Meet Cody

My name is Cody Sebben. After growing up in Stratford, I went away to school for Behavioural Science, and moved back after four years. My wife and I have two young children, ages six and nine. I am a current member of Stratford City Council, and also work as a Rehabilitation Facilitator supporting people living with brain injuries.

 

I have one main priority, and that is to represent you. I have worked as your City Councillor for eight years by being responsive to every email and phone call, hosting monthly meetings, and running with each of your issues as if it were my own. I want to continue to represent you when it comes to the big issues and the issues that affect you day-to-day -that’s the role of a councillor.

 

I am a firm believer that governments should spend money as if it were their own -and Stratford is no exception.

During my eight years on council I have been vocal and consistent in my belief that council needs to set reasonable targets for tax increases while maintaining existing services. I opposed the recent 3.19% tax increase and I will continue to advocate for lower tax increases, because I believe we can do better.

 

I believe we need a climate plan with teeth, and I have a plan to make that happen. We need smaller buses integrated into our transit system. We need more incentives for developers to build affordable and attainable housing, and to increase our support for individuals experiencing homelessness by building on our successful partnerships with non-profit and private businesses

 

A vote for me is a demand to have access to, and the attention of, your elected officials; not every campaign season, but on an ongoing and consistent basis.

 

It isn’t good enough to ask for public input after a decision is already made.

It isn’t good enough when you, your neighbour, or your entire neighbourhood feel they aren’t being heard.

You deserve to feel heard, and to know your input is making a difference.

 

Being accessible is key to representing people, that's why if re-elected I will continue to host monthly forums with the public to ask questions and provide feedback in an informal setting.

 

For eight years I have been right alongside you whether it was an issue at your home, on your street, or one that could change the course of the entire city. Four years ago I asked for your support and was so humbled by the amount I received. I’m here again because I believe there is still much work to be done, and because I continue to believe people need a bigger voice, and a bigger ear, at city hall.
